Tourism is a major contributor to the Queensland economy and a major employer state-wide, hence growth in tourism is a critical driver for job creation. The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation has primary responsibility within the Queensland Government for initiatives to strengthen and grow tourism within the State in partnership with the industry, and for facilitating all government activity related to the development of tourism.
